Aksharabhyasam

Aksharabhyasam / Aksharasweekaram is a ritual where a child writes their first letters and alphabets for the first time. Aksharabhyasam is a Sanskrit word meaning initiation of education to a child by his parents and guru on a select auspicious day The ritual is one of 16 sanskaras, and is generally recommended for children who are between 3 and 5 years old. The child is initiated to write the first letter with the blessings of Lord Ganesh and Goddess Saraswati.
